Looking for home staging ideas?
We'll give you some general home staging ideas for a lived-in home, but they will have to be adjusted to each situation.
Lived-in homes can present a particular challenge for home staging, as we try to reuse as much of the seller's furniture and accessories as possible.
Most times we see too much furniture or furniture which is too large for the rooms it's in. Another common problem is the furniture which is outdated and makes the whole house look drab and uninviting.
Some problems are easier to fix than others. For example, a fresh coat of paint in a light color will do miracles as well as minimizing the quantity of unnecessary furniture and just cleaning up!
Some others are more challenging. You'll have to decide which are the priorities and concentrate on those. You won't change the old windows, but maybe a new set of inexpensive curtains will do the trick? What to do when a very large bedroom set takes up the whole small bedroom? My advice is to remove everything you can from the room, keeping only the bed and the night tables. Maybe you can switch bedrooms? Another possibility would be to rent a smaller bed or purchase a smaller inflatable mattress for that room....
As you can see, a professional home stager can help you decide which home staging ideas will work the best for you.

Last but not least, once the house is staged, the staging has to be maintained (as much as possible!).
Yes, it's a bit of an effort but it will pay off in the end.
Please read this recent (August 4, 2009) blog www.thickenmywallet.com for further proof of why home staging is so important.
