A home staging project - amazing transformation
This page will show you an example of a home staging project which totally transformed a living room. It can also be called an "interior redesign" project, if the house owner plans to continue living in the house. You'll see the pictures of what the living room looked like before, as a matter of fact it looked that way for six years, since the new owner moved in. She didn't get around to the living room, as it was the least "necessary" room of the house and other repairs/renovations were more important.
Unfortunately, as the living room is located right next to the foyer, it was the first room the visitors to the house saw as soon as they walked in. It was NOT the greatest first impression!
This home staging project required some thorough thinking, as we wanted to obtain maximum results but were on a tight budget. After the initial consultation with Home Staging Montreal, a list of "To Do" and "To Buy" was established. It was clear that the room needed some color, lots more lighting, new window coverings and some new furniture - there was no way around that!
The main priorities were: plastering and repainting the room, adding crown moldings, replacing all baseboards for wider ones, installing spot lights in the ceiling and two very chic scones on the main wall, replacing most of the furniture, replacing window coverings and adding some accessories to tie it all together for a WOW factor.
We selected a Benjamin Moore OC-108 (Pale Moon) color for the walls. The ceiling, the crown moldings and the baseboards were painted white - simple but chic! The spot lights and the scones are brushed nickel finish - can't go wrong with that. Then we went shopping - a new sofa (soft beige microfiber), a chocolate brown leather chair and a funky raspberry chair were purchased at at major furniture retailor at a reasonable price of approximately $ 1 000 for the three pieces. We added a new rug ($80), a couple of decorative pillows ($25 for the pair), a throw ($20) and reused the coffee and side tables. New curtains were bought at a liquidation store ($50 for 4). One item we splurged on is the gorgeous mirror ($400 on sale), which we put above the sofa and it became the focal point of the living room.
